about
This fucking monolith... By far, the most labour-intensive, difficult, dense song. A cover from the score of The Witcher 3 expansion, Hearts of Stone, it concerns the wonderfully-written character, Gaunter O'Dimm. Equally eerie as it is powerful and dynamic.
The opening ambience is me and Kamaira banging wooden and metal spoons tied on strings, she plucking at her lap harp and me on my cura - a sort of tiny, Middle Eastern lute. The spoken parts are extracted directly from the game, while the 'choir' is comprised of no less than ten layers, recorded over the course of probably two years. Kamaira, Kate, and I can all be heard on that. Everything else I recorded myself, mostly with digital instruments. The spoons can be heard as percussion with the cura, my shitty strumming, and a melodica. The guitar replaces a lyra and is pretty much the only thing I know how to play. Taught myself, though!
Because CDPR assets cannot be used commercially by third parties, this is separate from the album and you may not pay for it. However, for continuity, it is supposed to be between Symudais, and Kenelm.
lyrics
Smile fair as spring, as towards him he draws you
Tongue sharp and silv'ry as he implores you
Your wishes he grants, as he swears to adore you
Gold, silver, jewels, he lays riches before you
Dues need be repaid, and he will come for you
All to reclaim, no smile to console you
He'll snare you in bonds, eyes glowin' afire
To gore and torment you til the stars expire
